Foes of Ali

Foes of Ali is a 3-D boxing game for the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer featuring ten boxers: Muhammad Ali, George Chuvalo, Henry Cooper, Jimmy Ellis, Bob Foster, Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, Ken Norton, Leon Spinks, and Chuck Wepner.

Game Modes

• Exhibition: Choose any boxer and face another opponent, or replay one of Ali’s historic fights.
• Tournament: Compete through an eight-man tournament tree to become champion.
• Career: Play as Muhammad Ali and face the other boxers in sequence, following the order of his real-life fights.

Boxing Features

Combat includes jabs, uppercuts, hooks, blocking, and grabbing. Fatigue is not simulated, but sustained powerful punches can slow an opponent and produce visible bruises, bleeding, and black eyes. The game offers 21 camera views, including a first-person perspective that reacts to damage: repeated blows to the eyes can darken the screen, while a sufficiently hard punch can cause double vision. Championship photographs appear before fights, with commentary provided by Tim Gammon.
