Fortified Zone

Fortified Zone is a top-down shooter released by Jaleco on February 26, 1991. The game features two playable mercenaries whose abilities complement one another.

• Masato: Can use all special weapons but cannot jump.
• Mizuki: Can jump but cannot use special weapons.

Players can switch between the characters during gameplay while fighting through four multi-room areas: Field, Jungle, Caves, and Complex. Pickups include medical packs, flamethrowers, hand grenades, rocket launchers, 3-way machine guns, and chain guns. Each level ends with a boss encounter, including cannon installations, a supertank, a dragon, a bulldozer, and a large assault vehicle.
