Arcade action against waves of aliens
The briefing
Frenesis is a 40-level arcade action game in which waves of aliens approach a cross positioned at the center of the screen. Using the joystick, you control the Statron, a line of arrows that extends across the screen and moves vertically or horizontally.
Aliens are destroyed when the moving Statron's arrow ends strikes them from the opposite direction. Each level requires you to destroy a quota of aliens within a time limit. Aliens that reach the cross increase the quota, while running out of time costs one of three lives. A separate three-stage alien can only be destroyed during its final stage.
A limited smart bomb is available on certain levels, although aliens destroyed with it do not count toward the quota. Some levels restore your lives to three. Developed by Tony Takoushi and published by Mastertronic, Frenesis was released in 1987 for Atari 8-bit, Commodore 16, Commodore 64, Commodore C64/128/MAX, and Commodore Plus/4.
