A vertically scrolling shoot'em-up across eight alien-infested levels
The briefing
Frenetic is a traditional vertically scrolling shoot'em-up in which humanity searches for a new home while battling the hostile forces of MOZONE. A heavily armed scout ship must fight through eight levels set across space and varied environments, including a jungle planet and a water world.
Each level ends with a huge boss, while enemies and backgrounds range from technological designs to more organic settings. Destroying certain enemies and bonus capsules reveals power-ups, including forward-, rear-, and side-firing lasers and missiles, along with speed-ups and shields. Collecting the same weapon power-up repeatedly upgrades its strength, and some power-ups are provided at the start of a level.
The game also supports two-player action, with both ships fighting the alien forces simultaneously. Frenetic was developed by Robert Toone and published by Core Design for Amiga, Atari ST, and Atari ST/STE.
