Trap darting Leptons by enclosing areas of a research centre

The briefing

About this game

Frenzy is an arcade maze, puzzle, shooter, and strategy game released in 1981. Deadly sub-atomic Leptons move through a scientific research centre, and the player must guide a robot craft to trap them before time expires.

Moving the craft across the screen creates a green ion-trail. Returning to an edge fills the smaller enclosed area, with captured territory shown in red during normal movement or pink when using the faster speed. A progress bar displays the percentage of the screen still left to fill. A Lepton is captured when it is enclosed or when 95% of the screen has been filled.

Higher levels add Chasers that travel along the borders. Colliding with a Chaser or allowing a Lepton to hit the trail costs a life. The number of Leptons and Chasers increases up to five of each. Extra crafts are awarded after completing the third, sixth, and ninth screens.
