Frost Byte

Frost Byte is an adventure platformer with puzzle and shooter elements. You control Hickey the Kreezer, an elastic character who moves sideways, jumps vertically, and shoots while exploring planet Cosmica to rescue their brethren.

Movement builds momentum, making a running start useful for clearing some hazards. Hickey’s limited “Twang” energy, ammunition, and jump control must be managed carefully, while collected ammunition and other objects aid the journey. Monsters inhabit Cosmica, and many can be defeated by shooting.

Power-ups

• Red sweet: increases speed.
• Blue sweet: increases leap height.
• Green sweet: allows safer falls from greater heights.

Frost Byte was released in 1985 for Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST/STE, Commodore C64/128/MAX, and Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
