The briefing

About this game

In Galactic Patrol, you command a spacecraft tasked with destroying Klingons before they can destroy nearby Starbases. Your ship carries limited phasers and torpedoes, along with shields that protect against enemy attacks.

The game combines first-person space combat with resource management. The upper part of the screen shows the view into space, while the lower section displays the instrument panel. You can use scanners to detect nearby Klingons, receive the direction and distance to the nearest Starbase, and travel using eight warp speeds. Warp eight can help you escape pursuing enemies, but prolonged use may damage your ship.

Movement, weapon preparation, and shields consume energy. Emergency repairs are possible while travelling, while Starbases allow you to refuel, re-arm, and repair damage. Before starting, you can select the speed, difficulty, and game length, each on a scale from 1 to 9.
