A rare Atari 2600 shooter set above a Vegan-occupied planet
The briefing
Gamma-Attack is a shooter for the Atari 2600, released in 1982 and developed and published by Gammation.
Players command the only Gamma ship in a stellar field and defend the system's sole inhabitable planet from Vegan laser pulse tanks. Move across the planet's surface and destroy the tanks encountered. Clearing all tanks advances the game to the next level.
Each laser pulse lowers the ship's hovering altitude. When the ship crashes, the alien mascot Gammy appears and the game ends.
Gamma-Attack is considered one of the rarest Atari 2600 games known to exist, with only one known copy. It was reportedly listed on eBay for $500,000 but did not sell.
