Ganbare Goemon!: Karakuri Douchuu

Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu is the first title in the Ganbare Goemon series. Released in 1986 by Konami, it follows Goemon as he travels through parts of feudal Japan, battling bandits and other enemies.

The game combines side-scrolling beat ’em up combat with maze-like stages where players must locate the exit. Goemon fights with his smoking pipe and can improve his weapon with power-ups or purchases from shops, using money collected from defeated enemies.

Hot-seat alternating two-player gameplay is also featured.
