A PC Engine golf game for up to four players
The briefing
Ganbare! Golf Boys is a golf game released for the NEC PC Engine on March 28, 1989. It supports up to four players competing in a round of golf through the console’s Multi-Tap peripheral.
The game presents each hole from a permanent top-down view and zooms in when a player reaches the green. Shots use a “hit the sweet spot” power gauge system commonly associated with golf simulators. It includes two courses, each with 18 holes.
Ganbare! Golf Boys was developed by Dual and published by Masaya. It remained exclusive to the PC Engine and did not receive a US localization. The game is also notable as the first project worked on by game musician Atsuhiro Motoyama.
