About this game

Gauntlet IV is a 1993 action adventure and hack-and-slash game for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive. Choose from Thor the Warrior, Thyra the Valkyrie, Merlin the Wizard, or Questor the Elf, each with distinct advantages and disadvantages. The game supports one to four players with Sega's four-player adapter.

Game Modes

  • Arcade: Play through the standard Gauntlet-style experience.
  • Quest: Defeat four towers and uncover the mystery of an ancient castle. In the central hub, gold can be spent on weapons from merchants, towers can be selected in different orders, and experience points improve character stats.
  • Battle: Fight other players to the death across maps featuring elements such as teleporters, monsters, and items. Exits must be avoided or the player is removed from the round.
  • Record: An arcade variation with password continues. Characters cannot die, but points are lost for every 500 health lost.

Developed by M2 Co., LTD and published by Tengen, Gauntlet IV was released on September 17, 1993.
