A cooperative hack-and-slash adventure with four heroes, six bosses, and online multiplayer.
The briefing
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows is an action-adventure hack-and-slash game that returns to the series’ core formula. Players choose from four heroes—the warrior, valkyrie, elf, or wizard—and battle through hordes of enemies on a quest to defeat six former imperial advisors.
The warrior specializes in powerful attacks, the valkyrie in speed, the elf in potent arrows, and the wizard in ranged magic. Defeated enemies provide experience for improving three character stats, while gold can be spent on new moves. Chests may also contain improved weapons and armor.
Levels focus primarily on combat, with simple puzzles involving keys, switches, doors, and portals. The game supports single-player action, cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, and online multiplayer in which each participant plays from a separate console. It was developed and published by Midway and released on December 12, 2005.
