Ghosts 'n Goblins

In Ghosts'n Goblins, knight Sir Arthur ventures through the Demon World to rescue Princess Prin Prin from Satan. His enemies include zombies, ogres, demons, cyclops, dragons, and other monsters.

Arthur can find new weapons, bonuses, and replacement armor along the way. He can withstand only two hits: the first removes his armor, while a second costs him a life. Losing a life sends him back to the start of the level or, if reached, its halfway point. Each life is also limited by a timer of roughly three minutes.

Originally released in 1984, the game combines action, arcade, adventure, platforming, and shooting elements. It is widely regarded as one of the most difficult games of its era.
