Action-focused real-time strategy across a dangerous alien world

The briefing

About this game

Giants: Citizen Kabuto is an action-focused blend of third-person combat and real-time strategy set on a distant planet contested by three very different species. The marooned Meccs rely on firearms and explosives, the mystical Reapers are the planet’s original inhabitants, and Kabuto is a gigantic, ravenous monster capable of overpowering smaller foes.

Each species offers a distinct style of play and different attacks. Most of the game takes place in a third-person view across a fully rendered 3D landscape, with jet-packing, warping, and leaping joined by an optional first-person perspective. Base-building and resource management are available for most races through a streamlined interface.

Single-player missions include objectives such as rescuing Smarties and recovering lost items. Multiplayer modes feature deathmatch, capture the Smartie, and versions with base-building enabled. The planet’s wildlife and vegetation also react to the conflict: creatures such as Smarties, vimps, and rippers can be employed, captured, eaten, or fought, while plants can be crushed, knocked over, or burned.
