About this game

Golden Axe: The Duel is a 1993 action fighter set years after the war with Death Adder. When the legendary Golden Axe—said to be the weapon Gillius Thunderhead used to defeat Death Adder—is discovered, its growing power attracts people of every age and allegiance.

The struggle for the artifact draws good and evil into a new war. The game combines fighting and hack-and-slash/beat-'em-up elements and was developed and published by Sega, with development credited to Sega AM1.
