Formula One racing on the Sega SG-1000
The briefing
G.P. World is an arcade racing game developed by Sega and published by Pony Canyon and Sega. The SG-1000 version is a loose conversion of the 1984 LaserDisc-based arcade game and was released exclusively in Japan in 1985.
Players race a Formula One car from a third-person perspective, with the camera positioned behind the steering wheel, while navigating the course and avoiding other drivers. The SG-1000 generates its graphics in real time rather than streaming them from a LaserDisc, resulting in different execution and more predictable car physics.
Instead of the arcade game's four types of Grand Prix, this version features a single world-spanning Grand Prix with three selectable difficulty levels. It also includes a simplistic track editor.
