Game Modes

  • Single Games and Season: Play individual matches or compete through a full season.
  • Wayne vs Wayne: Competing teams fill a 99 meter through play. Once full, Wayne Gretzky joins the team as an extra player for a limited time.
  • NHL Showdown: A PSP-exclusive ladder mode against NHL teams, culminating in a match against a team of five Gretzkys.
  • 3 on 3 Countdown: A PSP-exclusive arcade mode with three players per team, no regular rules, and victory awarded to the first team to reach a set score.

Features

The chemistry system influences player statistics based on how well teammates interact. Online multiplayer supports both ad hoc and infrastructure play. Gretzky Challenges let players earn points through in-game achievements to unlock alternate and vintage uniforms, gameplay features, and additional modes.

Unlike the previous PSP entry, the game includes color and play-by-play commentary from Mike Emrick and Darren Pang.
