The briefing

About this game

GRID delivers a cinematic racing experience across three distinct regions: Europe, the United States, and Japan. Players compete in official track championships, city-based competitions, road events, drift races, and urban street contests.

The game features a varied selection of exotic, import, classic, and V8 muscle cars, with events supporting grids of up to 20 vehicles. Races emphasize aggressive competition and dramatic incidents, including collisions, tire blowouts, engine fires, and high-impact crashes presented with slow-motion replay sequences.

Regional Racing

  • Europe: Prestigious circuits and championships featuring marques such as Aston Martin, Koenigsegg, Pagani, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche.
  • United States: Door-to-door street racing through cities including San Francisco, Washington DC, and Detroit, with V8 muscle cars leading closely fought pack races.
  • Japan: Neon-lit night races, drift events, mountain roads, and industrial-area competitions influenced by Japanese racing culture.

Developed by Firebrand Games and Entertainment Ltd. and published by The Codemasters Software Company Limited, GRID was released for Arcade and Nintendo DS on August 5, 2008.
