About this game

Gridrunner is an arcade shooter inspired by Centipede. Players control a small green ship that fires constantly while navigating the playfield and attacking enemies that descend in zigzagging patterns.

The game features twenty waves across a series of grids, each with its own enemy attack patterns. X-Y zappers patrol the edges and emit pulses that the player must avoid. New enemy types appear as the game progresses, with threats becoming increasingly dangerous.

Destroying certain enemies can release spinning colored disks. Collecting these power-ups temporarily improves the ship's attacks, while gathering multiple disks can increase their potency or duration. Completing each level awards a bonus life before the next grid begins.

Game Modes

  • Pure: Start at the first level and progress consecutively until all lives are lost. Save points are created after level four and every fourth level thereafter.
  • Casual: Resume from any save point created in Pure mode, using the best score and lives achieved at that point.

Pure and Casual modes maintain separate high-score tables.
