About this game

Guadalcanal Campaign is a turn-based strategy wargame set during the Second World War’s 1942 Battle of Guadalcanal. Players command American land, sea, and air forces from August 7 through December 31 against Japanese forces controlled by a second player or the computer.

Gameplay

Each turn represents 12 hours. Players reinforce troops, move task forces and units, launch air missions and patrols, and resolve combat. Naval forces include ships ranging from destroyers to aircraft carriers, while each side has one fighter type, four bomber types, and reconnaissance floatplanes.

Scenarios and Map

The game includes a shorter campaign covering October 1 through December 31, along with the Coral Sea, Eastern Solomons, and Santa Cruz scenarios. Its 40-by-40 grid stretches from Truk to the northern Australian shore and includes key ports and airbases. Victory points are calculated at the end of each game.
