Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a music game that builds on the general features of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Players use a guitar-shaped controller to match scrolling notes in time with rock music.

Aerosmith songs make up approximately 60% of the soundtrack, with the remaining tracks coming from bands influenced by or associated with Aerosmith. In Career mode, players follow the band’s history through several real-world-inspired venues, with interviews from band members between stages.

Aerosmith re-recorded four songs for the game and participated in motion capture for their in-game appearances. It is the final series installment to offer only guitar and bass as playable instrument choices.
