The briefing

About this game

In Gun.Smoke, bounty hunter Billy Bob sets out to free the town of Hicksville from the Wingates, a notorious band of criminals. Each stage requires the player to retrieve the featured henchman’s Wanted sign before the stage can be cleared.

Famicom Disk System Version

This version includes load times and several differences from the NES release. It uses a font similar to other Capcom games on the Famicom and changes the opening wording from “In America” to “In 1849.” Wanted-poster artwork, including Bandit Bill’s portrait, also differs between versions.

Due to the FDS disk cards’ limited memory, the shopping music uses fewer instruments, and some music from the NES version is replaced by repeated tracks. The FDS version also omits the game demonstration found in the NES release. Completing the game produces different messages across repeated playthroughs, culminating in “THE END” after the third completion.
