About this game

Gungriffon is an action shooter and vehicle simulation game developed by Game Arts and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn. Set during late 21st-century warfare, it places players in control of an enormous walking mech across missions in locations around the world.

Combat and Missions

Missions take place in different weather conditions and at different times of day. Objectives include search and destroy operations, protecting allied units, and eliminating all opposing forces. Enemies include other mechs, trucks, and helicopters, with some opposing mechs being faster and more agile than the player’s machine.

Weapons and Support

  • Main cannon
  • Machine gun that can overheat with prolonged use
  • Clusters of grenades
  • Limited homing missiles

Supply helicopters can provide repairs and additional ammunition, but they are vulnerable to enemy attacks. Allied mechs can assist during missions, although the player is expected to handle most of the fighting, making strategy and planning important.
