Timed tile-matching puzzles inspired by Shisenshō

The briefing

About this game

Happy Pairs is a tile-matching puzzle game developed by Sachen and published by Watara in 1991. Based on the Japanese game Shisenshō, it plays similarly to Shanghai: clear the board by removing matching pairs of tiles.

Gameplay

Tiles can be removed when they can be connected by a line making no more than two turns. The game is timed, so running out of time requires the current puzzle to be restarted. A computer-assisted matching option is available, but it can only be used a limited number of times.

The game includes more than a dozen location-themed backgrounds and several dozen puzzle layouts. It was released for Watara/QuickShot Supervision and Watara Supervision.
