1984 baseball action with managerial depth
The briefing
HardBall! is a baseball game that combines arcade-style controls with managerial options. Play is controlled with a joystick or arrow keys and an action button, using four-way direction input to select and aim pitches, guide swings, and throw to bases.
The game uses a pitcher perspective and lets players choose from a selection of pitchers. Individual team members have statistics that affect performance, and their positions can be rearranged as desired. During fielding, the player closest to the ball flashes to indicate who is under control.
Released in 1984, HardBall! was published across platforms including the Apple II, Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari systems, DOS, Mac, MSX, Sega Genesis, and ZX Spectrum.
