Heavy Smash

Heavy Smash is a futuristic, armored interpretation of handball from Data East. Players choose from various national teams, along with a robot team whose home turf is a space station. Team designs range from distinctive themed armor—such as Japan’s samurai-inspired gear and the USA’s sci-fi football-style outfit—to simple palette variations.

Each team has its own special shot, charged through a power gauge. Matches emphasize aggressive play: players can tackle and rough up opponents without penalties, and can even use ranged attacks to seize control of the ball. As a coin-op sports game, Heavy Smash follows a win-or-go-home structure, with the difficulty and opposing skill increasing from match to match.
