A side-scrolling arcade action game set in a chaotic movie studio

The briefing

About this game

In Hollywood or Bust, you play Buster Baloney, an actor searching a film studio for five missing Oscars while being filmed. The studio is presented from the side, with scrolling exploration across multiple floors connected by ladders and doors leading to film sets.

Security guards patrol the studio and can be avoided or stopped with custard pies. Ghosts must also be avoided, though they attack only from behind. Some doors lead to street sequences where large numbers of Kops pursue Buster. Custard pies can stop them, while a gauge tracks the damage he can take.

Released in 1985, the game is available for Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, and Commodore C64/128/MAX. It was developed by John D. Ferrari and Mastertronic Ltd. and published by Mastertronic.
