Hot Rod

Hot Rod is an arcade-style racing game focused on fast cars, uncomplicated tracks, and support for up to four players. Pressing fire accelerates, while left and right rotate the car for steering.

Races include bonus icons worth extra points and fuel pods placed along the track. Finishing position is less important than avoiding an empty tank, although the leading player receives an additional fuel refill at the finish.

Released in 1987, Hot Rod was converted for several home systems. The conversion closely follows the simple arcade design, with mildly cheerful graphics and sound, but offers relatively thin gameplay that can lose its appeal quickly.
