About this game

Hunt the Wumpus challenges you to track a mythical creature through a maze-like cave filled with deadly hazards. Use environmental clues to deduce the locations of the Wumpus, bottomless pits, and cave bats.

Blood splatters indicate that the Wumpus is nearby, while a breeze warns of a nearby pit. Falling into a pit ends the game, and encountering bats relocates you to a random cave room that may not be safe. Entering the Wumpus’s room wakes it and results in defeat.

When you believe you have found the Wumpus, you have one arrow to fire. A successful hit wins the game, but a miss causes the Wumpus to eat you.
