The briefing

About this game

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is a 1992 point-and-click adventure game featuring a new Indiana Jones story inspired by the spirit of the films rather than based on a specific movie.

After Indy delivers an ancient statue to a man calling himself Mr. Smith, he discovers that the client is a Nazi colonel. With former colleague Sophia, Indy follows clues around the world to uncover the statue’s connection to the legendary lost continent of Atlantis.

Gameplay

Built with LucasArts’ SCUMM system, the game uses menu-based action verbs and highlights interactive objects. Players solve varied puzzles—mostly inventory-based—while navigating conversations with multiple dialogue choices. Some simple hand-to-hand encounters with Nazis can be avoided.

The middle section offers three modes: Co-operation, featuring Indy and Sophia; Adventure, with Indy traveling alone; and Action, which emphasizes action over puzzles. Each mode includes different locations, puzzles, and characters. The CD version includes voice-over for all conversations.
