Turn-based civilization building and global strategy

The briefing

About this game

Civilization II is a turn-based strategy game in which you lead a civilization from a single starting unit and a limited view of the surrounding area toward one of two ultimate goals: conquering every rival civilization or launching a spaceship to Alpha Centauri.

Build and develop your civilization

Strategic city placement is essential for exploiting food, construction, and trade resources. Cities can be improved with irrigation, roads, mines, railroads, and farmland, while each city manages a single construction project at a time.

  • Construct civilian and military units, buildings, and Wonders of the World.
  • Develop cities to improve defense, research, trade, and food production.
  • Use 28 unique Wonders across different eras, with each Wonder limited to one city.

Research and strategic choices

More than 100 scientific advancements form a research system built around prerequisites. Research speed depends on scientific output, creating an ongoing balance between investment in technology, finances, and military strength.
