As Blizzard unveils the anticipated Season 2 items, Diablo 4 players exchange their fair share of eye rolls and exasperated sighs over the “mid and skippable" offerings.

Sassy Spin on Diablo 4's Underwhelmer of a Season 2

As the chill sweeps in from the fast-approaching Diablo 4's Season 2, one would expect players to be thawed by the warmth of excitement. However, Blizzard's sizzling reveal of the new battle pass rewards promptly turned into a snowball of disappointment among the gaming community. The indifferent reception was colder than your ex's heart at a break-up party.

Straight from the horse's mouth (or rather, Blizzard's website), Diablo 4's Season 2, endearingly known as the Season of Blood (How inviting!), presents a range of vampire-inspired wares. These include the Famished Thoroughbred Mount (because nothing screams fierce like famished), weapon façades and the universe's least wanted currency, platinum. But alas, the offering left most players unimpressed, looking as though they bit into a sour apple instead of the anticipated loot piñata.

In the heroic forums of the web, namely the Diablo 4 subreddit, our brave commentators offered their brutally honest opinions. User hlpb began the melodrama, lamenting, "Other than the mount armor, this is very mid and worthy of skipping." Co-signed by an equally melancholic Panda-Banana1, who sprinkled a dash of hope, saying the horse armor was dope (arguably the highlight of this tragic tale).

As if underwhelmed by the premium offerings wasn't enough, some players also bemoaned the carbon copy nature of this season’s spoils compared to the Season of the Malignant. One user poignantly captured the essence of deja vu creeping among fans, drawing parallels between Necro's armor from last season and the current one.

Throw in some free rewards featuring "role-playing clothing" (because who doesn't love paying top-dollar for virtual clothes) and a mount trophy, and the recipe for discontentment is complete. However, in the crowd of gloomy gamers, stands a rare breed of optimistic outliers. TotalConfetti, for instance, feels the Season of Blood does not entirely suck the life out of the game, enjoying the red town portal and horse armor.

In another twist in the tale, the premium battle pass now offers 700 platinum, 34 more than the bizarrely specific 666 from before. Players can now earn a free Battle Pass after three seasons, as opposed to always being two coins short. So, some good newscloth, at least.

Meanwhile, Activision Blizzard continues to be the bearer of bad news, admitting that there are no plans to bring Modern Warfare 3 or Diablo 4 to Game Pass this year if the proposed Microsoft deal materializes. And so, the adventure (or lack thereof) continues in Diablo's realm. Talk about a game of thrones where everyone seems to be losing.
