The new PlayStation Accessories app for PC enables DualSense Edge users to customize controller settings effectively, simulating PS5-level control customization.

DualSense Edge Controller Now Fully Customizable on PC

Sony has recently launched a new application that significantly enhances the usability of the DualSense Edge controller on PCs. This app, known as the PlayStation Accessories app, is not entirely new but has been comprehensively redesigned to extend its capabilities beyond mere firmware updates for PlayStation 5 controllers when used with a PC. Previously, the DualSense Edge controller was compatible with PCs, but the depth of customization was not as thorough as it was on the PlayStation 5 console itself.

The introduction of this app marks a pivotal upgrade because it replicates the PlayStation 5’s controller settings capabilities on PC. Users can now "create, edit, and switch between custom profiles" directly from their computers. This feature is particularly beneficial for gamers who play multiple types of games and prefer different settings for each genre.

For instance, with the app, players can assign custom settings to the controller's buttons, adjust the deadzones of thumbsticks and triggers, and save these configurations to unique profiles. A practical demonstration provided by Sony via a video on Twitter showed these features in action. This capability means that a user could set up one profile for playing a highly competitive shooter like Valorant with very sensitive controls and another more standardized setup for single-player games. This flexibility can dramatically enhance the gaming experience by tailoring the controller’s responsiveness to the needs of the situation.
