Nintendo releases Version 7.1.0 for Splatoon 3, enhancing the gaming experience with updates to Splatfests, Salmon Run, control fixes, and additional music tracks for players.

Splatoon 3's Latest Update Brings New Features and Fixes

Nintendo continues to dedicate its support to the vibrant world of Splatoon 3, with the introduction of Version 7.1.0 enriching the game's environment. Aimed at delivering a more seamless and engaging experience, this update has a variety of changes in store for the fans.

Central to the update are the modifications to Splatfests, the game's themed competitive events that unite players around the world. The patch has introduced an additional song to the Splatfest Battles playlist, which will play during both Splatfest and Tricolor Battles. Delighting fans, this track is accessible to all players, regardless of whether they own the downloadable content (DLC) or not, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the new rhythms as they ink their way to victory.

In addition to the Splatfest changes, the cooperative Salmon Run mode also benefits from fine-tuning. A notable tweak intends to reduce the time it takes for players not on the host system to pick up Golden Eggs immediately after depositing or tossing another. This change is expected to streamline the pace and efficiency of multiplayer sessions, adding to the mode's already dynamic nature.

The update hasn't spared any effort in addressing various bugs to ensure that gameplay is as fluid and enjoyable as possible. The player control system, in particular, received attention with specific fixes to the Order Brella Replica's canopy, ensuring the damage indication aligns with other similar weapons. Clam Blitz mode also saw a refinement, wherein an issue that allowed abnormal roller swing intervals has been corrected.

One of the defining features of Splatoon 3 has been its expansion with the Side Order DLC. However, players encountered occasional disruptions, such as communication errors after completing the Side Order story or loss of control following specific cutscenes. The new patch addresses these concerns and even adds a replay feature for cutscenes at the Spire of Order entrance.

The update has also focused on fixing inconsistencies in the game's audio-visual elements. These range from ensuring consistent music playback during continuous Side Order playthroughs to correcting the colored aiming reticle to match the player's ink. Moreover, the improvements extend to various aspects of the gameplay experience, including the standardization of jump heights from bounce pads and adjustments to the interaction between Parallel Canons and active inkrails.

SplatNet 3, the companion service app, wasn't left behind in this update. The developers have resolved an issue with the “High Score!” indicator in Side Order Stats, ensuring it accurately reflects players' achievements.

Other miscellaneous fixes include ensuring players receive proper badges according to their X Rankings placement and addressing an issue that caused the inability to change time limits during Tableturf Battle stage selection in multiplayer.

Nintendo reassures that this update is compatible with battle replays from Ver. 7.0.0 but not with earlier versions, allowing players to look back at their recent matches without loss of data.

As the Splatoon 3 community digs into the new modifications, anticipation builds for the next patch scheduled for the middle of the Fresh Season 2024, which promises further improvements and potential game balance tweaks.

Updates aside, Nintendo has also been engaging fans outside of the game through their official YouTube channel by releasing music clips featuring the fan-favorite characters, Pearl and Marina. These efforts highlight the franchise's commitment to not just maintaining, but actively enriching the player experience across different media platforms.

The latest Splatoon 3 update is a testament to the continuous improvements and content enrichment that Nintendo promises to deliver. Players are encouraged to dive back into the colorful turmoils, experience the enhancements, and share their thoughts on the game's evolution. The game, alongside its extensive updates and DLC, underlines the dynamic nature of the franchise and the creators' dedication to its dedicated ink-splatting community.
