Bethesda's latest patch notes for Starfield indicate a massive update with numerous fixes and enhancements across animation, graphics, gameplay, and more, providing a smoother and more immersive experience for players.

Starfield's New Update Brings Extensive Improvements

Video game enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the newest update for Bethesda's space exploration adventure, Starfield. The anticipation has been building since the developer teased the update as their "biggest yet" on social media the previous week. Now, the full patch notes for Starfield Update 1.9.47.0 have been revealed, detailing extensive enhancements and bug fixes across different aspects of the game. Players on Xbox and PC platforms can expect to receive the update in about two weeks. In the meantime, PC gamers have the opportunity to try out the improvements right now by participating in the Steam Beta program.

Some of the most critical updates include fixes to the player character's animations, with issues like eyes remaining closed fixed to ensure characters now blink naturally in third person. The adjustments also solve minor animation pops visible in third person. For creatures and enemies, the update has corrected problems with invisible creatures on certain planets and an error causing enemies to stand when they should be falling to the ground.

Crew and companions have also received attention, with changes made to their positioning near the ship's cockpit after players make a fast travel jump to the ship. Moreover, a potential control lock that occured when talking to a companion while trying to exit the ship without entering dialogue has been fixed, providing a smoother gameplay experience.

General improvements have been substantial as well. Players on Windows who had issues saving games due to specific characters in their usernames will find that this problem has been resolved. Rare save game corruptions on PC platforms have been addressed to ensure game progress is not lost unexpectedly. Furthermore, improvements include fixing the player marker following the camera on the surface map, preventing rare issues that would prevent access to the main menu, and ensuring body types do not reset to default when loading saves.

Graphics improvements are equally impressive, showcasing Bethesda's commitment to visual quality. Starfield's update includes better support for widescreen resolutions, including 32:9, 21:9, and 16:10 aspect ratios. Additionally, the star display now features sun disk geometry to enhance cosmic realism, and planet rings cast shadows seen from the planet surface. The developers have also improved the eyes and skin of crowd characters and the reflection on water surfaces. For character generation, the lighting has been tweaked for better visibility and appearance.

In the realm of outposts, players will no longer encounter missing terrain after fast traveling to a location near New Atlantis. Hazards will no longer cause damage if they have been bulldozed, ensuring a safer and more predictable environment. Additionally, an issue with outpost cargo links disappearing from the terminal list after being disconnected and reconnected during the cargo ship landing sequence has been resolved.

The patch also touches on powers, with fixes such as a rare issue resolved that would keep the Phased Time power enabled indefinitely. Similarly, issues causing excessive speed in zero gravity while using this power have been fixed, providing a more balanced gameplay aspect.

Quests and random encounters in Starfield have not been overlooked. Various quests have been adjusted to improve gameplay and fix control locks that occurred under specific conditions. For instance, dialogue problems, blocked doors, and issues with crew becoming inaccessible have all been addressed. Furthermore, the developers have smoothed out issues related to quest objectives and space combat to ensure a more consistent gaming experience.

Ship and ship customization have also been enhanced. This includes adjustments to the home ship marker, issues that arise from fast traveling during ship targeting mode, and a case where the Frontier ship took too long to resume firing after weapons were repaired.

Lastly, the skills and weapons/items sections of the game have experienced some tweaking, such as fixing incongruities with the Targeting Control Systems skills at different levels and resolving FOV and zoom issues with weapon scopes.

This update promises a more polished and enjoyable Starfield adventure, as Bethesda continues to listen to player feedback. The sheer breadth of improvements underscores the developer's commitment to creating the best possible experience for space explorers. Players are encouraged to share their thoughts on the updates and continue to participate in the ever-evolving universe of Starfield.
