Verizon Thinks It's Ok To Scam $300 From Their Customers

Verizon is Scamming GamersExtra for $300!!

Hello everyone,

In today's post, I want to share with you my ongoing journey with Verizon's 5G service. It's been a mix of highs and lows, and I'm currently facing a frustrating situation that I think many of you can relate to. Let's dive into the details of my experience.

The Beginning of the Journey:

My adventure with Verizon began around June 2022 when I subscribed to their regular 5G internet service. They promised speeds of up to 1000mbit, but unfortunately, I never experienced more than 80mbit. After some discussions, Verizon suggested an upgrade to 5G Home Plus, which they assured would deliver the promised speeds.

An Unfortunate Incident:

While preparing to return the original router to Verizon, I accidentally dropped it, causing damage. Acknowledging my mistake, I accepted their $200 equipment charge. It seemed fair at the time.

A Glimmer of High-Speed Hope:

Upon receiving the new service, I was initially pleased to see speeds close to what was promised. This performance lasted almost a year, a period of relative satisfaction with their service.

The Downhill Slide:

Trouble started when my router's performance drastically dropped, barely reaching 20mbit. After two weeks of persistent communication and several technician visits, Verizon concluded that I needed yet another new modem.

Shipping Woes:

I promptly returned the faulty router using Verizon's kit and shipping label, dropping it off at a UPS store. However, a puzzling delay ensued – Verizon did not register receiving the modem until the end of November, despite my timely return.

The $300 Surprise:

To my shock, I recently discovered a $300 charge on my account for the equipment that I had already returned. Despite my efforts to resolve this issue, including engaging with their support team on Twitter since the early morning hours, Verizon has neither agreed to credit back the amount nor return the equipment that I’ve now effectively paid for.

Compromised Speeds and Unresolved Issues:

Adding to my woes, the new router hasn’t lived up to the promised performance, rarely exceeding 500 mbit despite being less than 100 feet from a 5G tower.

A Call for Help:

As the holiday season is upon us, this unexpected $300 charge is a burden I cannot afford. I’m reaching out to the community for advice and assistance in resolving this matter.

This experience has been more than just about internet speeds; it’s a reminder of the challenges customers face in navigating service agreements, technical issues, and customer support. Your suggestions and support would be immensely appreciated as I try to find a resolution to this issue. I highly recommend staying away from Verizon for their home internet service, as it has been a headache several times, and the customer support department is seriously lacking people skills.

Stay connected,
