The briefing
Alien Storm puts players in control of the Alien Busters—Karla, Gordon, or Scooter—as they fight an alien invasion and pursue its creator. Each character has distinct weapons and special attacks, allowing players to choose a preferred approach from the start.
The game unfolds across missions and stages, taking the action from city streets to the alien mothership. Enemies become tougher as the campaign progresses and may hide inside everyday objects, including plants, postboxes, trashcans, and drums. Missions feature objectives such as rescuing people or destroying a UFO, with alien bosses appearing at the end of some missions.
Special attacks can clear the aliens currently on screen, but they consume substantial energy. Gordon can summon a U.S. Air Force jet to drop bombs, while Scooter teleports away and leaves bombs behind before returning. Defeated aliens may release flying heads that provide life or energy when shot.
Every mission concludes with a building-based shooting gallery, where players target aliens appearing from different locations. Alien Storm supports solo play and two-player cooperative action. The Genesis version contains eight missions, while other versions contain six.
