A caveman’s mountain quest on a stone unicycle

The briefing

About this game

B.C. II: Grog's Revenge follows Thor, a caveman riding a stone unicycle in search of the “Meaning of Life.” Across several mountains, he must collect clams, which serve as currency for paying Peter the toll to access the next mountain.

Gameplay

  • Mountain sections allow movement in all four directions while hazards include cliffs, walls, rocks, holes, Grog, and a green dinosaur.
  • Grog can knock Thor off the mountain, while the dinosaur eats his “tire” on contact.
  • Caves provide a second mode of play, with limited visibility from a beam of light around Thor and stalagmites to avoid while collecting clams.
  • At the end of each mountain, Thor must have enough clams to cross the bridge to the next one; otherwise, he must return and collect more.

Developed by Sydney Development and published by Sierra On-Line and U.S. Gold; Erbe Software, the game was released in 1984 for ColecoVision, Commodore 64, Commodore C64/128/MAX, Microsoft MSX, and MSX.
