Baten Kaitos Origins

Baten Kaitos: Origins is an adventure role-playing game for Nintendo GameCube set 20 years before the first Baten Kaitos. It follows Sagi, a blue-haired young man who was sent to assassinate Emperor Geldoblame, only to find the Emperor already dead. Framed for the crime, Sagi goes on the run with Guillo, a robot, and Milly, a young woman.

Story and Exploration

The game explores Geldoblame’s rise to power, the backgrounds of heroes from the first game, the origins of the world, and the return of the Lost Ocean. Early progression follows a linear route, but players later acquire a ship that opens up areas in an order of their choosing, supporting optional side quests or a more direct focus on the main mission.

Magnus Card System

Character advancement primarily comes through obtaining better Magnus cards rather than traditional attributes such as strength or agility. More than 600 Magnus cards are available, with cards acquired through trading, purchasing, combat spoils, or creation.
