Beneath the Pyramids

Beneath the Pyramids is a single-player adventure/RPG hybrid set in ancient Egypt in 1932. Sent by the British Museum, you must explore the Great Pyramid near Giza in search of a priceless solid-gold cat statue dedicated to Bast.

Before entering, purchase equipment from the bazaar, including weapons such as a rifle or crossbow, along with lanterns, matches, rope, grapples, pickaxes, bandages, and protective wool coats. Your choices are restricted by weight and cost, and you cannot return to the bazaar. On Apple II, bartering with the shopkeeper can help conserve coins.

Inside the pyramid, explore caverns and chambers, collect items and clues, solve puzzles, discover treasures, and fight monsters. Traps can disable you if you lack the right equipment, while the living dead roam the icy passages at night.
