About this game

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter takes the series in a radically different direction, replacing the traditional overworld with a huge dungeon-crawling experience. Battles are tactical, with each character using action points to move and perform combo attacks.

Gameplay Features

  • No overworld map and no magic system.
  • Enemies remain visible in the dungeon, allowing encounters to be approached strategically.
  • The party or enemies gain an extra turn depending on who initiates physical contact.
  • Many dungeon items are randomized.
  • Players can restart from the beginning while retaining items and party experience.
  • Ryu can transform into a dragon, but each transformation raises a counter; reaching 100 ends the game.
  • Increasing the D-ratio unlocks new areas during subsequent playthroughs.

Released on November 14, 2002, the game was developed by Capcom Production Studio 3 and published by Capcom for PlayStation 2.
