About this game

Cholo is a nonlinear wireframe 3D game originally released for the BBC Micro and later ported to the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and Commodore 64. Its story takes place after a nuclear war, when humanity is trapped underground beneath the rule of a robot defence system controlling the irradiated surface.

Players begin as Rizzo the rat, a diagnostic robot with a laser, limited armour, and computer-link capabilities. The initial objective is to explore the city and take control of more powerful robots. To capture a robot, players must shoot it until it is paralysed, make contact, and enter the required password.

Each robot has distinct abilities. Aviata can fly and transport other robots, while Igor can access computer systems. Only one robot can be controlled at a time, so completing tasks often requires switching between machines. Robots also have four slots for rampacks, which contain text files or programs that provide additional functionality.
