About this game

Contact Sam Cruise is an action-adventure strategy game inspired by 1930s detective movies. Sam must solve a murder while exploring a scrolling two-dimensional section of an American city.

The city can be explored freely, but the investigation follows a linear sequence of puzzles. In-game phone calls provide hints for the next stage, while Sam can enter buildings, operate lights, open doors, collect money, and use disguises during his mission.

Investigation and danger

  • Evade the police, including by cutting building power with fuses.
  • Manage a limited supply of money, which gradually decreases and can be lost through arrest or attacks.
  • Use a limited number of first-aid packs when shot by gangsters.
  • Survive encounters that can leave Sam unconscious and robbed.

Running out of money or first-aid packs ends the game. The game was developed by David Reidy and published by Microsphere for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
