About this game

Cyber Knight is a science-fiction role-playing game released in 1990. After a damaged starship is thrown across the galaxy, its surviving crew must investigate the planet Farworld, battle the mechanical Berserkers, and search for a way home.

Exploration and Progression

The game shifts between top-down planetary exploration, side-view combat, and a first-person menu system aboard the Swordfish. The ship travels between stars and scans planets for information. When a planet can be reached, three crew members pilot Modules to explore its settlements, speak with inhabitants, and complete quests that reveal the items needed to progress.

Module-Based Combat

Combat is turn-based and takes place on a 6-by-6 grid. Three Modules can be positioned around enemies and use melee or long-range weapons. Ammunition is unlimited, while consumable options provide additional attacks. Each Module has separate hit points for its pilot and its mechanical body; reaching zero in either causes the Module to be destroyed.

Upgrades and Recovery

Defeated Berserkers may leave behind NeoParts. These can be analyzed in the Swordfish laboratory to improve Module attributes such as endurance, agility, and accuracy, as well as unlock new weapons. The six Modules and six pilots each have distinct abilities and statistics. Repair kits and first aid kits restore the party outside combat, while damaged Modules, defeated pilots, and supplies can be restored aboard the Swordfish.
