A challenging horror-action platformer starring Arthur
The briefing
Daimakaimura is Capcom’s SuperGrafx adaptation of the classic arcade platform game known outside Japan as Ghouls'n Ghosts. Players guide Arthur on a dangerous mission to rescue Princess Prin-Prin from the demon king Loki.
Arthur begins with a throwable joust spear and battles through six lengthy stages, including a cemetery filled with Grim Reapers and Vultures and abandoned windmills guarded by stone turtles. Treasure chests can contain weapons, armor, the powerful Golden Armor, or sorcerers that transform Arthur into an elderly man or a vulnerable duck.
With the Golden Armor equipped, Arthur can charge his weapon for powerful attacks, such as a lightning spell from the spear or a mirror-image attack from daggers. The game was released on July 27, 1990, and is associated with PC Engine SuperGrafx, Sharp X68000, and Wii releases.
