Tactical role-playing strategy on a grid
The briefing
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness is a tactical role-playing game developed by Nippon Ichi Software and published by NIS America. It was released for PlayStation Portable on October 30, 2007.
Battles take place on square-grid maps where humanoid units and monsters fight groups of enemies. Attacks can target individual units or designated areas, and combat ends when either all enemies or all player units are destroyed.
Humanoid characters can lift and throw units across the battlefield, helping allies move farther or keeping enemies at a distance. Throwing an enemy into the base panel may capture it and turn it into an ally for later maps. Capture chances depend on several factors, and a failed attempt kills the characters inside the base panel while the enemy survives.
