Dragon Spirit

Dragon Spirit is a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up centered on Amul, a heroic warrior who transforms into a blue dragon to rescue Princess Alicia from the monster Zawell.

Across nine stages, players battle enemies in the air and on the ground. The dragon can fire upward at airborne targets or launch attacks toward the ground, while some enemies can rise from the ground into the sky. Power-ups provide upgrades such as additional dragon heads, increased health, and faster shots. Each stage ends with a boss encounter.

Alternate Version Details

The NES version, subtitled A New Legend, presents a different story in which Lace must rescue his captive sister Iris from the evil Galda. It also adds an introductory stage and two gameplay paths: the standard Blue Dragon mode and the easier Gold Dragon mode, which can begin after failing the opening stage in one life. The TurboGrafx-16 version changes its seventh and eighth stages to castle interiors instead of underwater and dark-themed environments.
