A sewer-platform challenge for the BBC Microcomputer

The briefing

About this game

Drain Mania is a platform game developed and published by Icon for the BBC Microcomputer System. Players control Theodore as he navigates fixed-screen sewer levels in search of a way out.

Gameplay

Beasts called Inky, Pinky and Dinky emerge from drainage pipes. To defeat them, Theodore must jump and headbutt the floor tile beneath a beast, then kick it while it is toppled. If it recovers, it becomes more ferocious, while different beasts require different amounts of punishment; Dinky, for example, must be hit three times before toppling.

Water and fireballs can appear from the pipes and must be avoided. Coins provide points, while a zap block can eliminate all enemies, though it can be used only three times. An invisibility option is also available briefly on each screen.
