The briefing
Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus is a first-person adventure RPG with horror, puzzle-solving, exploration, and tactical combat.
Choose one of four character classes, each determining starting attributes such as Strength and Intelligence. Explore by clicking directional arrows, collect objects from the first-person view, and manage them in your inventory. A room view also displays items found in the current area.
Monsters are fought through clickable encounters with four tactics: Normal, Defense, Fierce, and Berserk. Defeating enemies, exploring, and casting spells earns experience, allowing your character to gain levels and improve attributes. Weapons found throughout the game provide additional combat options.
Elvira's spellbook enables the creation and casting of spells. Spells can heal, protect you, damage enemies, or solve puzzles required for progress. Creating them requires a sufficient character level and specific ingredients, which are generally consumed permanently. Casting uses Power Points that regenerate slowly, while each prepared spell has a limited number of castings.
Conversations are brief, and encounters with characters who do not attack are uncommon.
