About this game

Exzisus is a horizontally scrolling shooter released in Japanese arcades by Taito and published overseas by TAD Corporation. Players guide a giant flying robot through four planets, battling a mechanical enemy while walking along surfaces, crouching, firing guns, and launching bombs from its back.

The robot can collect A items to transform into a spaceship, gaining an extra point of health and increased speed. Mechanical animal helpers that accompany the robot combine with it during the transformation, adding their firepower. In spaceship form, contact with the level surface counts as a hit, although the surface does not damage the ship during boss encounters.

Stages feature checkpoints, an on-screen progress map, enemy waves, and hazardous barrier sections containing obstacles such as asteroids and ice blocks. During boss fights, the map changes to display the boss's health meter. Players receive an extra life for every 100,000 points.
